Inbox and approvals

Some decisions your agent will not make alone. It asks, stops, and carries on when you answer. The Inbox collects those requests, along with mentions and updates, for one agent in one place.

01

Open the Inbox

Press the bell in the side rail, or choose Inbox from the Menu. When something is waiting on you, the tab reads Inbox · N: N counts your unread mentions plus the approvals you are allowed to decide.

It opens on All. The other views narrow it down:

  • All: every entry, newest first, each with a label saying what it is.
  • Mentions: every place someone typed @ and your name in this agent's threads.
  • Approvals: requests waiting for a decision, and the decision history.
  • Needs you: what needs a decision from you.
  • Needs the team: what anyone on the team can pick up.
  • Updates: what the agent is Working now on and what Finished in the last day.

An approval answered from its conversation disappears from the Inbox too: it is one request, not two copies.

02

The kinds of approval

Each card says in plain words what changed and what happens after you answer.

  • Check this change on your test site: the agent has put a change on your test site. The card lists what you asked for and How to check, with Open your test site. Press Looks right, or Needs changes and say What needs to change (the note is required). Nothing goes live until you approve it for your live site.
  • Put this change live for your customers: the change you checked is ready for your live site. The card names who approved it on the test site and when. Press Approve production or Deny (with an optional note). Your live site updates within a few minutes and you get a confirmation in the chat.
  • Data imports: before writing a batch of records into your app, the agent says what they are, where they came from and how many. Press Approve import or Decline.
  • Everything else: a checkpoint you or the agent set. Press Approve or Deny.

Technical details on each card holds the version, build and deploy receipt if you want them. Open the conversation takes you to the thread the request came from; when you answer a test-site or production card, a follow-up is posted there so the agent carries on.

ℹ Info:The agent never changes your live site on its own. Every live change waits for Approve production. See Your hosted web app.
03

Who can approve

Going live needs the agent's owner, an admin, or an operator who has Can approve production deploys ticked on Members. Other members see the card with its buttons disabled and the reason beside them, for example Only the owner or a designated approver can approve this. See Members and roles.

04

Decision history

Under the open cards, Decided lists the decisions from the last 14 days: what it was, who decided and when, any note, and a link back to the conversation. Press Show older to load more.

05

Answer from other tools

With an agent key that has the approve:tasks scope, another tool such as Claude Desktop can list what is waiting and approve or deny it, with a note. The same rules about who may approve still apply. See API keys for other tools.

06

Add your own checkpoints

Ask for a checkpoint in plain words, for example “Ask me before you send anything to a client.” The agent stops at that point and waits for your answer in the Inbox. Put checkpoints where a mistake would be costly or hard to undo; Autonomy and checkpoints explains how to choose.
